For most of us, a new role in life presents a variety of challenges and some surprises, too. Advice from someone who’s already been there can help get us through the rough spots. In the case of university students, who better than seniors to offer the benefit of their experience?
This week, Cansu Çiftçi, a fourth-year Management student, has some words of wisdom for this year’s freshmen.
Q. What advice would you give freshmen about the Bilkent experience?
Don’t overthink everything that happens here, and try to graduate with enjoyable memories. It’s not like you’ll ever be able to live your university years again, so enjoy them to the full.
Q. What’s something students should keep in mind throughout their time at Bilkent?
First, don’t forget that Bilka is closed on Fridays. You’ve been warned!
There are a lot of opportunities at Bilkent and different kinds of social activities for everyone. Keep in mind that you have the chance to benefit from attending these events and joining clubs. These are great ways to meet new people and find a new hobby as well.
Q. Any tips or tricks to surviving life at Bilkent?
Friends who have a house and a car can help you a lot, believe me.
And in order to survive during exam weeks, plan your studying ahead and do it well. Try to review your notes daily; that will help you a lot in the long term. Otherwise, some semesters will be super stressful for you.
