For most of us, a new role in life presents a variety of challenges and some surprises, too. Advice from someone who’s already been there can help get us through the rough spots. In the case of university students, who better than seniors to offer the benefit of their experience?
This week, Elif Ceren Kaya, a fourth-year Psychology student, has some words of wisdom for this year’s freshmen.Q. What advice would you give freshmen about the Bilkent experience?
It’s important to both pursue your studies and maintain a social life. That way, you can have a healthy, motivated university experience, where you don’t worry only about your courses. And, reward yourself with a coffee when you’re a little sleepless and bored!
Q. What’s something students should keep in mind throughout their time at Bilkent?
University is the last step before beginning “real” life, and you’ll be here only once, so enjoy it to the utmost and make the experience as rewarding as you can.
Q. Any tips or tricks to surviving life at Bilkent?
Always seek ways to improve yourself and learn from your mistakes. Be happy, be sad, but live your university life to the fullest. Also, definitely go on an Erasmus semester.
