Each year, the international professional organization ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) celebrates women in computing, with events being held by local/regional chapters around the world. On Saturday, March 16, ACM Bilkent will hold its third Ankara Celebration of Women in Computing (ACWIC), bringing academics and industry professionals together with university and high school students. The event, whose purpose is to celebrate and encourage the participation of women in the field of computing, will take place at 10 a.m. in C Block auditorium.
Speakers will be Bilkent University Rector Abdullah Atalar; ACM-W Vice Chair Reyyan Ayfer; Asst. Prof. Pelin Angın (METU), a Bilkent Computer Engineering graduate; Dodo Software co-founder and CEO Doğuş Güleryüz; Moralabs co-founder and CEO Kamer Kamerkaya; and Dr. Roya Choupani (Çankaya University). The closing session will include a just-for-fun competitive activity, with prizes for the winners.
Also this year, ACM Bilkent has launched a series of algorithm workshops, in cooperation with the Turkish hacker community organization inzva. The workshop sessions take place every Wednesday at 5:40 p.m. in B Building.
