Student Council Strategic Plan for the New Year 2004

OBJECTIVE-1: To Strengthen the “Bilkent Spirit”: We would like to create a Bilkent Spirit that Bilkent University students and graduates can feel not only during their education at Bilkent but also during their professional life.
In order to achieve that:
· Action 1: A “Traditional Reunion Day” for all students and graduates (To strengthen roads of communication among the students and to maintain contact with graduates; we aim to organize a traditional reunion day (like “Pilav Günü”) with the help of the alumni office.)
· Action 2: A “Special Symbol” for Bilkent University (We aim to create a special symbol that will solidify all of us at Bilkent under one emblem, just like the Bulldog of Georgetown)
· Action 3: Social Activities inside the Campus
- Book Fair-February 2004
- Automobile Exhibition-March 2004
- Spring Fest-May 2004
OBJECTIVE-2: To Strengthen the “Image of Bilkent” in the Public Arena
· Action 1: Support for TDP (Toplumsal Duyarlýlýk Projeleri) and the other aid campaigns
· Action 2: Communication with media and newspaper columnists
· Action 3: Bilkent Student Council Awards (We envisage giving Bilkent Awards to people who have gained success in different fields in Turkey. Recipients will be determined by Bilkent students voting via the internet.)
· Action 4: Conferences (We plan to organize conferences and to invite speakers to Bilkent.)
· Action 5: Participation in National and International Organizations
- National Youth Council Meeting
- Model United Nations Conference
· Action 6: Bilkent University Licensed Products (Products will include sweatshirts, towels, pants, t-shirts, jackets, mugs, notebooks and pencils. They will carry the symbol-logo of the university and will be marketed not only at Bilkent but also in other cities.)
OBJECTIVE-3: More Participation and Communication in the Decision Process of the University
· Action 1: Communication with the Student Council (In order to have a continuous line of communication with the students, one of the members of the Student Council Executive Committee will be present at the Student Council Office between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.)
· Action 2: Committees and Student Clubs at Bilkent (Student Council Executive Committee members will regularly participate and represent all the students in committees such as the Sports Committee, Traffic Committee and Bilnews. We also aim to organize meetings with the student club representatives and to negotiate participation in their activities.)
· Action 3: New Design for Student Council’s Web Page (We hope to get the views of Bilkent students about our activities and will give them a chance to share their complaints or suggestions via the internet and via billboards. Our web page is now active: www.konsey.bilkent.edu.tr)
