Bird Flu Precautions

Although bird flu is under control, the University Health Center would like to offer the following recommendations for everyone’s health and safety.

* In case you detect a dead bird on campus, immediately call the Security Office at 1234 or 1578. Please do not handle it personally.
* Do not touch birds or bird feces. In case of accidental contact, make sure to disinfect your hands with soap and water.
* As they may have been in contact with a dead bird, please do not feed stray cats and dogs, and do not let them in your apartments/buildings. Also, if you have pets, do not let them outside unattended.
* If you feel flu-like symptoms (or any suspicious symptom), please report to the University Health Center immediately.
* At restaurants and cafeterias, refrain from consuming poultry and eggs. (Poultry and eggs will not be served in Bilkent cafeterias until further notice.)
* You are advised to boil and/or add chlorine tablets to tap water and bottled water.
