The
Bilkent Library Art Gallery has opened the semester with a new
exhibition, "Sculptures to Wear," by jewelry designer Sabrina Fresko.
Ms. Fresko, who completed her architecture degree at Mimar
Sinan University in İstanbul, currently works in İstanbul as a freelance
architect and interior designer. She considers design as a complete
entity, and believes a vase, jewelry or a chair can be designed using
the same fundamental principles.
She has been working on jewelry design since 1995. This
exhibition features her current work, "wearable sculptures" that
symbolize the relationship of a woman with time and nature. She uses
natural semiprecious stones, including stones from the beach that have
been rolled, shaped and polished by the sea, and so embody "the patience
of the centuries." She believes that just thinking about the adventure
of these stones' existence on earth can give individuals energy and
strength.
The exhibition can be viewed in the Library Art Gallery
between 11 a.m.
and 6 p.m. every day.
