This
year's spring semester sports courses include three new aerobics/step
programs. The Physical Education and Sports Center has added "Everybody
Dance," "Abs & Gymball" and "Yogafusion" to the wide variety of courses
already being offered.
"Everybody Dance" is for
everyone who likes rhythm and music. It's an enjoyable fat-burning
program that involves dancing to hip hop and Latin rhythms. The “Abs &
Gymball” program is based on stretching with gymballs in order to
strengthen and tone muscles as well as to improve balance, coordination
and mobility. This workout helps you burn off body fat at the same time
as it strengthens, stabilizes and increases mobility throughout the
pelvic and lower-back regions.
The Center is also
offering classes in "Yogafusion," which is yoga-based exercise combined
with elements of Pilates. It engages the mind/body connection and
activates the body's "powerhouse" through breathing techniques, while
reducing physical and mental stress.
Filiz Gür, the Aerobics/Step
programs supervisor, invites everyone to take these courses in order to
become more active in a safe, effective and enjoyable way. She notes
that the Physical Education and Sports Center can help you choose a
program that suits your individual fitness level.
