Last
autumn, COMD student Arif Yavuz Çimen was part of the production team
for the popular TV series "Kurtlar Vadisi" and its spinoff film "Kurtlar
Vadisi Irak" ("Valley of the Wolves--Iraq"). The movie is currently
showing in cinemas all over Turkey, as well as in most countries in
Europe, America and Australia.
"Kurtlar Vadisi Irak" is
the first international big budget movie made by the Turkish film
industry, with a production team from both Turkey and Hollywood. It cost
10 million dollars, and was filmed in Gaziantep, Iraq and Syria last
fall.
As a Bilkent COMD
student, Arif had a chance to work with people from the Hollywood film
business. He served as an assistant to special effects professionals
Mark Meddings and Lynda Armstrong, who have also worked on films such as
"The Kingdom of Heaven" and "Alexander the Great."
This project was a great
opportunity for Arif in terms of his future career. We congratulate him
on his success.
