Sezen Kayhan, a student
in the Department of Archeology and History of Art, has served as co-organizer
of a conference for art and music students that took place in Ankara at
the end of January. Entitled "The Universal Language of Europe: Art
Beyond Borders," the event was attended by some 30 students from Estonia,
Lithuania, Bulgaria and Turkey.
The "Art Beyond Borders"
concept is part of the European Union's Youth Programme. It is intended
to help young artists break through and overcome national, cultural and
geographical borders.
The Ankara event
included workshops, lectures and concerts. A main theme was exploring
the relationship between the fine arts and society.
At the end of the
conference, there was a public exhibition of paintings and concert
organized by Sezen and another university student. All income raised
from the exhibition and concert was donated to UNICEF.
