THE VOICE

SONGS THAT SHARE OUR LIVES…

As a generation that has seen record players, cassette players, CD players and now mp3 players, we are living with music in different way than our ancestors did. Music has become not a luxury, but a normal background to our daily activities. I am sure that each of you has your own routine, in which music has an important share, for both the best and worst days of your lives. Sometimes songs really mean a lot, because their lyrics are able to express all your emotions.

My favorite song for the morning, which I've newly discovered, is “One Way Ticket” from Eruption. It's about a train on which you travel and never turn back. Maybe I like it because it allows me to sleep more and forget all my expectations that have failed. After that short escape, my second favorite song comes to awaken me: “Summer Sun” by Texas, which I have finally learned is actually “Summer Son.” I simply like its melody.

Also, it was the first song played in my own car--which reminds me that I have to rush in order not to be late and also to find a parking place at the university. (I think this is a very big problem, don’t you?)

Speaking of cars, I have some "driving friends," which are again my favorite songs. First, there's “Beautiful Love” by The Afters. This song is about a love who smiles from far away. And I'm sure that each of us has or has had a love who is very far away :) My second favorite driving song, “Around The World” by ATC, is also a signal that I need to become fully awake for a new day.

I have some special songs for walking and exercise as well. My favorite one for this is Barry White's “First, Last, Everything.” It has an excellent rhythm that makes me feel like dancing, but since I'm a bad dancer, I prefer to walk to it. This amazing song is also great for recharging your energy after two hours of morning classes.

Then comes my song for the ten-minute break before the last class of the day: Bobby McFerrin’s “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” I think that it's a good choice to give you a little bit of hope that happiness will come your way after a long day.

The song that I'm playing the most this week is Teoman's “Aþk Kýrýntýlarý.” It's excellent both for those who need to stand still, and also for those who need a little push to get them moving on their own. But if you ask me what my favorite song of all time is, it's Linkin Park’s “Numb.” I love that song.

I hope that you enjoyed this week’s "amateur music tour." Let me make two final recommendations: Kelly Clarkson’s “Breakaway” and Bethany Joy Lenz’s
“Halo.” Have a great Spring Fest filled with music and, of course, with studies...heheheh
