United Nations: Questions and Answers

Will Iran Obtain Nuclear Weapons? Will Palestine Become a State? Will the
Rift between Religions and Societies End Peacefully? Interested?

Then come join the Bilkent Model United Nations (MUN) Society for its conference titled "The Affectivity of the UN: New World Order or Wailing Wall for the Third World?" seeking to answer these very questions, and many more. If you have ever had a question on the effectiveness or efficiency of the UN, hear what Ambassador Onur Gökçe, Dr. Nil Şatana, and Ms. Halide Çaylan, the UN Resident Coordination Officer in Turkey, have to say on the matter. Participate in an engaging discussion on the present and future of the United Nations, what it holds for Turkey and the world, and how it affects you.

The three speakers will be presenting the issues of the UN system and what it means for developing countries, nuclear proliferation, and domestic application of UN decisions while offering personal evaluations of the world's only truly international body. The conference will also offer a question and answer session afterwards. All students and staff are welcome. Details are available at http://www.bilkentmun.org

The conference will be held Thursday, November 23rd, at the Mithat Çoruh Hall at 4:30 p.m.
