Student Columnists Wanted!

Bilkent News is looking for student columnists for next year. Student columnists write columns about life on campus, opinion pieces, reviews and film critiques. Columnists should be well informed and seek to generate discussion with humor, insight and sensitivity by writing in an authoritative and accessible manner. The Board of Editors has the final right of approval for content in the Bilkent News.

Next year, Bilkent News is hoping to recruit a number of columnists to write for the paper on a monthly basis with readers voting for a "Best Columnist" and "Best Article" at the end of the year.

Student Columnists will be expected to:

Write one column per month during the semester
Be deadline-oriented and able to coordinate dates and deadlines with the editors
Keep abreast of campus activities, news events, etc.
Set goals to improve journalistic skills and work diligently on improving writing
Have a strong command of English and the desire to constantly improve
Write with sensitivity and never employ hate speech
Write well-reasoned columns

If you are interested in writing for Bilkent News next year, please submit two writing samples to Hande Seçkin Onat (seckin@bilkent.edu.tr ) by the end of this academic term, May 19.
