'CARS': EXCELLENT FOR HAVING A GOOD TIME
Last Friday night, with my friends, we were trying to decide between seeing
"Cars" or another movie. After a quick look at the schedule we decided to see
"Cars", which was in my opinion, the best choice. I actually never miss Pixar's
animations. My favorite Pixar movie was "Monsters, Inc."
I especially liked the little girl (Boo) running after the big blue monster (Sulley) and
the one eyed green creature (Mike Wazowski).
I am sure I have watched it more than ten times. And each time I was still able to laugh -
and even get emotional.
After "Monsters, Inc." came "Finding Nemo", another fantastic movie.
Then came the incredible movie: "The Incredibles." And this year we have
"Cars", which I guess will become the best Pixar movie in most of our minds.
So if you plan to see the movie, don’t read further. It contains some comments
about the movie.
I saw the movie in Turkish. I know that most of people prefer to see the original version,
which I also prefer but in the theater this was the only option. And I noticed that the
translation was quite efficient and the dubbing was very high tech. Before the movie there
was a short animation named "One Man Band." It was a very pleasant and funny
movie to watch and enjoy.
Finally, "Cars" started. The story is very common. A popular person without real
friends gets lost and ends up in a friendly little town full of warm people. Then this
person learns about trusting, sharing and caring about others. The success of the film was
in the storytelling. Even though the end was obvious from the beginning, the details and
the quality of the animation is captivating.
The scene with McQueen and Sally just riding around town and Sally telling about old times
in Radiator Springs was so realistic. While watching these scenes I forgot it was
animation and moved into the realm of reality. Such talent with animation makes you
believe that a virtual place is real.
Back to the movie: the ideas the film tried to awaken in audiences' hearts worked well
because of the storytelling. You actually understand that the rushed life that you are
leading makes each day more insignificant. After the movie you realize that sometimes you
just have to take a deeper breath and contemplate your surroundings. The faster we live,
the more we miss each day. The racecars serve as a metaphor for explaining this. In spite
of a fast life style, McQueen exemplifies how you can always take your loved ones with you
and keep your good manners too. So don't forget to spend time with loved ones and never
forget your past, and the people who made you what you are. Have an excellent week full of
joy.
