 Three Industrial Engineering students - Sinecan Bilgiç, Yusuf Said Umaç and Ali
Irfan Mahmutoğulları - have received the Erdinç Ören Scholarship for the 2007-2008
academic year. The award was established in memory of Önder Erdinç Ören, an alumnus of
the Industrial Engineering Department, who passed away at an early age last May. His
classmates from the IE class of 1993, and colleagues at various companies established a
yearly scholarship fund to support three freshmen or prep. year Industrial Engineering
students. A committee, composed of Professor M. Selim Aktürk, Asst. Professor Alper Şen
of the IE department, and Academic Student Coordinator Burcu Uslu Özdemir, selected this
years recipients. The students will be given a monthly stipend, and coaching from the
alumni members who established the fund.
