Virtual Villagers
With advancements in technology and the rise of “Facebook,” we have gotten used to the idea of social networks. Well before “Facebook” and “Cyworld” became huge, there was a far more interesting site, developed by an innovative new group, connecting you to the city around you.
I learned about it thanks to an email sent to me by a reader, who is part of Pozitif Değer Bilişim Çözümleri. Their goal is to gain an understanding of the future from a sociological perspective by entering into the "web society." There are several projects they have on the go right now, but the one I found very interesting and enjoyable is the "Ankara Virtual Tour."
On this site you can visit places around town, including galleries, shops and restaurants - "virtually." The site brings the city to your computer.
Check out Ankara for yourself at www.ankarasanalgezinti.com. If you are in the mobile world, stop in at www.ankaralife.mobi.
Enjoy and have a nice week.
