Bilkent University's Underwater Club (BİLSAT), put together in the fall of 2007 by M.Can Kerse, Haydar Çelik and Volkan Açıkel, now has 107 members. Under the supervision of Prof.Orhan Aytür (EE) and with the participation of diving instructors Engin Demir and Eylül Erözdemir, BİLSAT has formed a dynamic scuba diving group. The club began to organize activities in February. Their first project was the organization of CMAS theory courses on the main campus, April 7 to 10. CMAS is an international diving federation centered in France that Turkish Underwater Sports Federation (TSSF) is in contact with. These courses are offered to beginner scuba divers. In April 12 and 13, 45 members attended. The club also put together a diving trip to Bodrum Yalıçiftlik. Twelve members who passed the theory courses did well in their practical underwater skills and became certificated CMAS scuba divers. Moreover, 24 discovery divers were able to experience the beauty of the underwater world, and 9 already certificated divers felt the excitement of diving with fellow Bilkent students.
