A Meeting of Turkic Cultures

tudatTürk Dünyası Araştırmaları Topluluğu (TÜDAT), founded 5 years ago at Bilkent, hosted The First Ankara Turkic World Student Congress, April 12 to 13. The event was made possible through substantial contributions from the Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO). More than 80 student delegates attended, from countries ranging from the Balkans to East Turkistan, from Afghanistan to the Republic of Tatarstan, who are now studying at various Ankara universities. Students delivered presentations on their cultures and the problems facing their countries, and some demonstrated traditional dances. Moreover, a number of public and private institutions were represented, with speeches being made related to the issues being discussed at the Congress. Participants had the opportunity to introduce their countries and to make new friends. TÜDAT aims to make the Ankara Turkic World Student Congress and annual event, inviting attendees from Ankara, and other parts of Turkey.
