LOST In Theory
Hello again dear readers,
Writing the very first article of the semester is usually easy. You talk about the
holiday, the weather, extend good wishes for the new semester, etc. and everyone buys
that. I myself did that very same thing the other year. This week, however, I will not
write about that stuff. I won't say its wrong, I'll just say its out of fashion and
boring. So I'll just skip to my topic.
The TV series Lost has become a phenomenon, and everyday it seems to attract more and more
people. Since the fourth season has ended, and we must wait 'til early 2009 for the next
installment, Lost fans need to keep occupied with other things. Recently, I found just the
diversion on the internet: Octagon Global Recruiting. As regular Lost watchers know,
Dharma hatches play a big part in the series. All of these hatches have a symbol in black
and white. For example, the symbol on the first hatches was of a swan surrounded by an
octagon shape (see picture).
Well, guess what. The Comic-Con company, one of the sponsors of the series,
created an actual Dharma Booth for a fair in the US, and developed a test to recruit
people for the Dharma Initiative! Before the test, people were given a piece of paper with
instructions on how to make an origami swan! (Odd?!) Now the test is available online, so
I decided to try it out for myself. The site basically creates new questions and theories
around the show in itself, and is a perfect way to occupy your time until next season. For
those of you who want to take a look, the address is www.dharmawantsyou.com. There
are three tests available at the moment to help provide a new world of Lost theories.
It seems that until the very last episode is broadcast, the possibilities for the
mysterious island and its inhabitants are endless.
Until next time, I salute you all....
