DOST Gets Students Out into Nature

dostIf you are not already bogged down with homework, exams, and projects, you soon will be. If you haven't been out of Ankara for ages, are gazing up in the sky to see only a handful of stars instead of thousands, and the only picturesque scenery you see is the one on your desktop, it's time to break the monotony. Join Bilkent's Outdoor Sports Society (DOST).

The group is proud to say that Turkish mountaineering pioneers Nasuh Mahruki
(MAN '92), the only Türk to reach the summit of K2; and Tunç Fındık (ELIT '93), the only Türk to reach the summit of Mount Everest (twice!), are past members.

Established in 1989, DOST organizes mountaineering, trekking, rock climbing, orienteering, and mountain biking activities. Last year, DOST members climbed Bolkarlar, Aladağlar and others.

If you would like to join the club, the first meeting for this semester will be on Thursday, March 12, at B-Building, BZ-08, 5:45 p.m. For more information, email sagol@ug.bilkent.edu.tr.
