For the first time at the end of the last academic year, the Bilkent University School of English Language (BUSEL), instituted a way to acknowledge and reward excellent BUSEL teachers nominated by colleagues and students from a large pool of very deserving candidates.
In July a Distinguished Teaching Awards ceremony was organized as part of the school's end-of-year meeting and shields were presented in recognition of excellence to the eventual three award winners.
The recipients of BUSEL's Distinguished Teaching Awards were Eser Çağatay, Tim Thurston, and Clare McCann-Yalçın. Their names were also passed on to the relevant University Committee as nominees for the University's distinguished teaching awards.
Eser Çağatay, who has now retired, received a standing ovation of recognition.
