Pilates for Strength, Balance, and
a Happier, Healthier YOU!

pilatesThe Physical Education and Sports Center has launched a series of exercise classes to provide an opportunity to become more active in a safe, effective and enjoyable way. One of the courses being offered is Pilates.

The exercise and physical movement practiced through Pilates is designed to stretch, strengthen and balance the body. It involves the systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns. Pilates has proven itself valuable both as a fitness endeavor of its own, and as a great supplement to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation.

The purpose of many Pilates exercises are to improve blood circulation, reduce heart strain, develop the lungs, stretch muscles, increase flexibility, and develop minor muscles to help strengthen major muscles. Ahsen Küçükdurmaz, Aerobics/Fitness Coordinator, says, "It's great for developing balance and control of the body - which can help in all areas of your life. I recommend trying it!" And, with all of the benefits for the body and mind, why wouldn't you?

The Physical Education and Sports Center will be offering Pilates/Tae Bo mixed classes at the Student Dormitories Sports Hall, Monday to Wednesday, from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.

For more info, call Ahsen Küçükdurmaz at ext. 1993 or 1325 or email ahsen@bilkent.edu.tr
