womenEight universities from two cities took part in the final games of the 6th Ayva Cup, May 2 to 3. Bilkent's Women's team continued their winning streak advancing through the group stage with only one defeat. With the confidence of being the Crowned Champions of the Category "C" tournament, the Women's team passed through the semi-finals before reaching the finals where they faced Hacettepe. They played very well against their tough and experienced opponents and clinched a 10-point lead by the end of the first half. Despite a strong effort however, they failed to protect their advantage and lost the game 52 to 55. Being last year's silver medallists as well, Bilkent's Women's team kept the second place cup at home for another year. Head Coach Dr. Alper Uğraş and Coach Selvin Çiçek stated that the team is improving as they build up more experience and confidence. Their goal is to aim high in the future and shoot for the title next year. Bilkent's Women's Team will compete in the Category "B" Tournament and the 7th Ayva Cup next year. The Bilkent community is encouraged to head out, show their school spirit and enjoy the good quality games.
