"Journey by Pencil" brought volunteer writers together with teachers and students at the IDV Bilkent Primary School on Thursday, May 7.
Organized by Fast and Efficient Reading teacher Betül Erdoğan, the event featured a seminar that covered the history of the book through to present day. As she explained, it is a fact that the written work not only reflects the life itself, but also opens new horizons for the readers. Realizing this through activities no doubt has left traces in history.
Teachers co-operated with each other to help students learn and understand academic information easier, while enjoying reading, sharing dreams, thoughts and knowledge through the colorful pages of books. Literature, music, dance, and folklore incorporating words and visual images were all part of the event.
Volunteers who took part in "Journey by Pencil" were linguist and writer Emin Özdemir, Savaş Ünlü, Bilgin Adalı, Dr. Fatih Erdoğan, Nurettin İğci, Koray Avcı Çakman and Işık Kansu. They talked with students and autographed books, creating a bond between writers and readers.
