Sedat Nizamošlu, a PhD candidate in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, will receive the 2009 SPIE Scholarship Award in Optical Science and Engineering. The International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) works for the advancement of light-related scientific research with its more than 16,000 members around the world. When awarding scholarships, SPIE evaluates a wide range of applicants and selects individuals based on their potential for long-range contributions to optics and photonics.
Sedat Nizamošlu is currently doing his PhD thesis research work in the Devices and Sensors Research Group under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hilmi Volkan Demir from the Department of Physics and Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He is working on nanocrystal quantum dot integrated LEDs. During his MS and PhD studies in the Devices and Sensors Group, he has co-authored more than twenty Science Citation Index papers that have been published or are in press.
