The "Darwin Now" exhibition is visiting Bilkent University. It is part of a series of international activities prepared by the British Council to commemorate the bicentenary of Darwin's birth. It will also celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first appearance of Darwin's book "On the Origin of Species."
The exhibition will be open to visitors at the Faculty of Science B-Block Atrium until October 15, 2009. Dean of the Faculty of Science Hasan Erten, Vice-Dean Atilla Erçelebi, Head of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics Tayfun Özçelik and Director of British Council Turkey Jeff Streeter gave talks at the opening of the exhibition at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4.
Today, Darwin continues to influence a diverse array of scientific fields. His theory of evolution offers different perspectives on contemporary problems. The exhibition aims to reach wide audiences throughout the world and facilitate unbiased discussions on the theory of evolution.
"Darwin Now" exhibition visited 25 countries including Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Cuba, Egypt, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Korea, Libia, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia and the United States.
