 Bilkent Graduate Gizem Girişmen (MAN 04'), a member of the Turkish National Archery Team and Paralympic medallist, beat Marketa Sidkova from the Czech Republic for the gold medal in 2009 FITA Para-Archery World Championships Nymburk, category Recurve Bow Class W2 Women.
Girişmen was paralyzed following a traffic accident when she was 11 years old. She achieved honors in business administration from Bilkent University in 2004. That same year she was introduced to paralympic archery.
 Girişmen placed 3rd in the 2006 European Tournament and 1st at the Czech IPC International Archery Tournament in 2007. In the 2007 IPC Archery World Championship, she placed 9th during the elimination rounds (with the highest score during ranking).
In 2007, Girişmen won first place at the Czech Republic International Archery Tournament and second at the fourth European Disabled Archery Grand Prix in 2008. Her second gold medal highlight has been the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.
