It's been a month for Bilkent reunions. Boston area Bilkent graduates gathered in Sabur Restaurant on a chilly evening for an reunion dinner organized by local alumni Melis Ciner, (ECON/03') and Fırat İleri (EE/09').
On the other side of America, Bilkent alumni in New York gathered for the New York Turkish Film Festival, meeting friends and indulging in a few nights of cinematic culture. The festival provided viewers with some valuable food for thought, featuring a mix of documentary and fiction films, many of which showed the harsh realities of poverty. The reels provided glimpses into difficult lives, while weaving an engaging visual narrative of the coping mechanisms and cultures associated with such an existence.
"Pandora's Box," has been nominated for multiple awards abroad (see http://www.imdb.com/ title /tt1285130/awards) and sold out many hours before the showing. "Pandora's Box" tells the story of a disconnected family whose attempts to care for an ailing older relative unearth petty problems and rivalries.
