aykut karaalioğluTouch-pad World

Our individual lives are surrounded by touch-pad gadgets, a phenomena for our generation. When I was watching TV last week, the screen suddenly froze. To fix this problem, I just got up and touched the screen. Then I realized that all technological items should be touch-pad equipped.

I am a social guy and like to speak to new people. When I speak to someone and touch people's arm or shake their hand, I can feel some clues that are basically representative of these people's features. This is not absolutely correct but makes me feel good. It is exactly the same for technology.

Technology can represent a part of you. If someone asks you what your fundamental necessities in life are, I think that almost all of us would say that notebook computers, phones, and cars etc are the most important.  On the other hand, things are rapidly changing, while people's needs are not. To illustrate: We are in a tournament and need some equipment, a basic requirement in any competition-but just having the right equipment doesn't guarantee victory in the contest. Just an obligation to win. This is also true of our lives. We live in a modern society and with it comes some norms. These are not our personal interests, but requirements to just maintain our status-quo.

Last month, a hot new trend came out of Apple: the iPAD.

This new gadget also has a touch-pad and its features are amazing. Some of the guys like me (tech addicts) ordered one on the same day that news of its release reached the public. Do I need it? Of course not, but I must keep up with what's going on.

This is an ironic situation for me. It supports that consumer is movement when someone is buying all a new model of something just because it is new. Don't worry, you are not weird because this is the touch-pad world.
