Beatles & Elvis Go Baroque

baroqueElvis and the Beatles are coming to Turkey, but as they have never been heard before here in Ankara. The Bilkent Symphony Orchestra (BSO) follows its years-old tradition of holding tremendous concerts featuring world-class musicians in the Bilkent Concert Hall next month. The 2009-2010 Concert Season program begins in October and will be announced on the first of the month. If you haven't been to a show in previous years, now is the time to catch up.

This year rock and classical come together for the first time at Bilkent with the work of world-reknowned composer, pianist and maestro Peter Breiner. Breiner is known for joining the tunes of hit Beatles and Elvis songs to beloved masterpieces by Vivaldi and Bach with a baroque twist.

International flautist Þefika Kutluer joins BSO to perform Breiner's rock-classical medley.
The concert will open with Beatles singer John Lennon's "Imagine" from the album "World of Lullabies," recorded by Kutluer with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concert will continue with Breiner's "Beatles Concerto Grosso No:2" where Vivaldi's Four Seasons blends with Beatles hits"A Hard Day's Night," "And I Love Her" and "Paperback Writer," including more popular songs by Elvis and Kutluer's baroque-style flute.

In Breiner's "Beatles Concerto Grosso No: 3", you will hear the Beatles' "The Long and Winding Road," "Eight Days a Week," "She is Leaving Home," "We Can Work It Out," "Hey Jude," and the popular "Yellow Submarine"-all to be played by Kutluer's flute in Baroque style with the dream of Overture, Rondo, Sarabande, Bourree, Polonaise and Badinere in Bach's Suite No:2.

sefikaPopular "Elvis" songs will lead audiences further on this unique baroque journey with the flute Concerto Grosso No. 2.

If you haven't been to previous BSO shows now is the perfect time to start. Ring in the new season with some classical rock n' roll.

"Beatles & Elvis Go Baroque" will be performed for the benefit of the Turkish Foundation for Assisting Needy and Destitute People.
