The Bilkent University Diplomacy Club organized an International Relations Students Congress on 5 and 6 March 2010, held in the Mithat Çoruh Auditorium.
Under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Mustafa Kibaroğlu, Asst. Prof. Ali Tekin, Asst. Prof. Dimitris Tsarouhas and Asst. Prof. Tarık Oğuzlu, more than 30 participants from different universities around Turkey, participated in this event and exchanged their views on the transformation and problems of Turkish Foreign Policy at the outset of the 21st century.
The IR Students Congress discussed and debated all matters regarding international relations and Turkish foreign policy in a multi-faceted and objective fashion. Three sessions were held each day in which participants presented ideas, analyses of contemporary international developments and survey results on topics related to Turkey's current external affairs, i.e. dispute settlement mechanisms between the European Court of Human Rights and Turkey, the normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey, Neo-Ottomanism, strategic partnership with the United States and the EU, and regional leadership in the Balkans, Caucausus and Middle East.
