Artist Yusuf Ziya Aygen will be hosted by the Bilkent Library Art Gallery this month. His pieces show silhouttes in paintings that allure onlookers into a new world of mystery in colors. Each painting provokes a range of feelings.
“We are living in an age of media and technology.” says Atilla Güllü, curator of the gallery. “Everything around is happening very fast, and we do not pay attention to the life around us. Yusuf Ziya Aygen calls us to explore, to see and to understand. His paintings have little light, but lots of details if you look closer. You have to pay attention.”
Aygen was born in Çankırı in 1968 and graduated from the Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts in 1998. He won four awards, including awards in the 60th and 61st National Painting Contest Özgün Baskı Resim Yarışması Başarı Ödülü. He has participated in many national and international exhibitions and bienals.
