A Look at “Desire”

Ayva Cup

Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture students of the course “Curatorial Studies II”  organized a contemporary art exhibition called “Desire.”

The second part of the generally theoretical course, “Curatorial Studies” deals much more with practice. It includes the whole process of preparing an exhibition, starting from planning, putting the objects together and designing the overall concept.

More specifically, a curator is the person in charge of objects, works of art in a museum, essentially the entire exhibition or art gallery. Caring, writing and providing information for them, the curator controls the pieces of art and searches for artists and related artworks to add to the collection.

Accordingly, the whole exhibition was formed by students in Bilkent's curatorial studies course, based on the concept of ‘Desire.’ They selected paintings, sculptures and video installations both by established artists and art students from Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir and Eskişehir.

Just one reminder, although this is a Fine Arts course, the course instructor, Çağla Saraç says this is a general course where students from any department are highly welcome to share curatorial studies experiences.
