The Bilkent University, ESN Club took a trip to LÖSEV (Children with Leukemia Foundation) Elementary School, located in Beysukent-Ankara last week.
Volunteers spent time with students between the ages of 4-11, who had survived leukemia, presenting them gifts and giving them support as they convalesce. LÖSEV elementary school gives education free of charge to almost 100 students, who are the survival of leukemia cancer.
The exchange students then visited the “Spinach” (Ispanak) shop, where the mothers of children with leukemia had the chance to work and raise money. Mothers create works of art such as dolls, magnets and postcards, as well as specially made spinach pasta. These products are sold all around Turkey to raise money so that the foundation can aid children and their families through hard times. |
