Faruk Özerten (COMD/06'), Communication and Design Department graduate and producer of the film “Peace after Marriage,” received an award for the best scenario in the ninth annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
Invited to participate in the 2010 Tribeca All Access Lab, the film's scenario was chosen from among 600 projects. The film's crew was awarded for strong scenario after meetings with interested investors, distributors and sales agents at the Lab financing platform.
“Peace after Marriage” is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a lonely, young Palestinian-American man desperate for companionship. He agrees to marry an Israeli woman in need of a Green Card, forcing them to re-examine their respective cultural and familial traditions.
Faruk Özerten was granted the Fulbright Fellowship to attend a production program at the American Film Institute Conservatory. For his talent and academic success at the AFI, he received the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Scholarship. |
