From the Library

We are pleased to invite you to attend the first lunchtime lecture of this semester. On Wednesday, October 14, Prof. Metin Heper, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences and Chair of the Department of Political Science, will give a lecture entitled "The Kurdish Initiative: Some Thoughts on Contentious Issues." In his talk, Prof. Heper will discuss whether or not the Turkish stated has attempted to assimilate the citizens of Turkey with a Kurdish ethnic background. He will also discuss whether Turkey faces a threat of the Kurds opting for an exit strategy. He will share his views with the Bilkent community on these and related issues. Following the formal presentation, Prof. Heper will have time to take answer questions.

As usual, the lecture will be in English and refreshments will be provided. Don't forget to come to the Library Art Gallery at 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday to attend this interesting lecture.

Last year, the Library administered a survey to all our users (students, faculty, and non-Bilkent readers) in order to learn your thoughts and opinions about our services and collection. Overall, the results of the library survey were positive, but it also pointed to certain areas where we need to make improvements and changes. We have now uploaded the results, as both statistical tables and accompanying graphs, and they can be viewed by following the relevant link on our website:http://library.bilkent.edu.tr/

We would like to thank everyone who participated in the survey, and also members of the BITS team for their help. We are planning to have another library survey in a few years' time, to determine how much we have improved since last year; but of course, if you have any comments about the Library and its services, please do not hesitate to let us know now!
