A first-of-its-kind symposium on "Turkish Woman Novelists and Short Story Writers" will take place at Bilkent Thursday, April 8, through Saturday, April 10. The symposium is open to the public and there is no registration.
Organized jointly by the Center for Turkish Literature and the Department of Turkish Literature, the Symposium includes noted literary critics and scholars from various universities making presentations at workshops and many well-known women authors reading from their "works in progress" or participate in panels.
Adalet Ağaoğlu will be the keynote speaker, giving her address on the morning of the first day, Thursday, April 8. Among the other authors scheduled to appear as Bilkent News was going to press are: Zeynep Aliye, İnci Aral, Erendiz Atasü, Oya Baydar, Feride Çiçekoğlu, Sevinç Çokum, Gülten Dayıoğlu, Nazlı Eray, Aslı Erdoğan, Füruzan, Melisa Gürpınar, Nursen Karas, Ayşe Kulin, Ayla Kutlu, Pınar Kür, and Cahit Uçuk.
