Who's Your Distinguished Teacher?
Nominations for the annual Distinguished Teaching Awards are being accepted starting today. Reward your favorite teacher with a nomination! A nomination form is included in this week's Bilkent News and Award details are on.

This year's Distinguished Teaching Award program is now under way. Using the form that is inserted in this issue of Bilkent News (also downloadable from http://www.provost.bilkent.edu.tr/odul/ teachawd.htm), students are urged to nominate one or more faculty members (Instructor, Lecturer, Language Lecturer or Asst./Assoc./Full Professor) whose teaching abilities, they feel, are worthy of praise and recognition. All full-time academic staff of Bilkent University who have been teaching for at least two academic years are eligible for nomination.

To enlist the support of graduates of Bilkent and get a wider spectrum of opinions, nomination forms were sent to recent graduates as well. The deadline for nominations is Friday, April 16.

The winning faculty members will be presented their awards at the Spring Graduation Ceremony. The recipients of the Distinguished Teaching Awards for the 97-98 academic year were Teoman Alemdar (THM), Nur Altınyıldız (IAED), Orhan Arıkan (EE), İossif Ostrovskii (MATH), and Serdar Sayan (ECON).

For more information about the awards, e-mail teachaward@bilkent.edu.tr or contact the Office of the Vice Rector for Student Affairs at ext. 2748 or 2749.
