ID Checks Appreciated

Dear Editor,

In response to the two students who recently wrote about the transportation system, I think it is running very well.

I am very pleased with the ID checks because I am tired of not being able to get a seat on our buses thanks to the people who use the system to go to their houses (Çamlık and Park) and the people who use the system to go shopping and entertainment centers. Why should we pay for them to travel for free? They have no right to use our system!

The campus belongs to the staff and students, no one else. The students who aren't pleased with the ID check process have the opportunity to use other means of transport.

Athlete Calls for More Support

Dear Editor,

I'm a member of Bilkent's Women's Basketball Team.

According to University regulations, when we have a game or a tournament teachers have the right to mark us absent.

All players and athletes are trying to represent Bilkent as best as they can. After school they attend practice and work hard to be successful in tournaments and games. But what they get at the end of all their work are complaints from teachers and marks for missed classes. Also, the University has no responsibility in case of an injury or accident (only First Aid is provided). All that the University offers its players is a make-up for missed exams.

I believe Bilkent can do more. We don't miss our classes just to have fun, we're trying to represent our University before the rest of the country.
