Following weeks of tough competition, the Rector's Cup tournaments are producing champions before the semester comes to an end. Several tournaments are done and others feature third place and championship matches this week.
Basketball
Approximately 80 students divided into eight departmental teams participated in the Rector's Cup Inter-Faculty/Department Basketball Tournament. Four of the teams made it to the semi-finals, and the winners of the final games, played Tuesday, April 27, were as follows.
First place: Tourism All Stars. Team members: Oben Kurultay, Yiğit Sunem, Uğur Çobanoğlu, Anıl Özbaki, Onat Özüak, Berk Tüfekçi, Kerem Tez, and Cem Temiz.
Second place: No Name (BUSEL). Team members: Levent Doğan, Boran Oğuz, Evren Yatman, Nihat Boduroğlu, Tolga Erol, Burak Tayla, Sebahattin Bilgehan, and Sinan Atay.
Third place: Electrical-Electronics (EEE). Team Members: Volkan Efe, Alper Kürşat Öztürk, İlyas Kil, Emrah Aşan, Mesut Meterelligöz, Taner İncirci, Yağmur Gök, and Ömer Faruk Özer.
Fourth place: Not A Pipe (IE). Team Members: Şükrü Tutak, A. Kemal Parlaktürk, Utku Barın, Orhan Gencel, Hakan Gültekin, Tolga ‚alışkan, Umut Ergüsu, Talat Özerden, Burak Durak, Cem Sonat Yüksel, and Erdem Çelik.
Awards were given to all the winners by Dean of Students Zeynep Köksal, Director of BUSEL Erhan Kükner, and Director of Physical Education and Sports Center Dr. Hayri Özkan.
Table Tennis
The table tennis tournament started with 16 students on April 12 and ended on Tuesday, April 27. Four competitors came out on top and were awarded Rector's Cup trophies. The winners are as follows.
First place: Cemil Sedefoğlu (ECON); second place, Levent Subaşı (FS); third place, Haydar Çelik (EE); fourth place, Hakan Terzi (EE).
Football
The two Rector's Cup football tournaments will feature third place and championship matches this week. The Inter-faculty league will hold its third place match at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 6, on the Main Campus grass field with the championship match on the same field at 4 p.m. that day. The mini-field league will hold its third place match at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the Main Campus mini-field and its final match on the same field at 6 p.m. that day.
