The grants are awarded on the basis of the importance of the graduate student's research work. There are 10 winners this year, and Burak Temelkuran is the only international recipient of this grant. Burak will present two papers on his research topic, photonic crystals. His advisor, Assoc. Prof. Ekmel Özbay, said, "This is a well-deserved award for Burak, who worked hard and made significant contributions to this research area. I also see this as significant proof of the quality of our graduate programs here at Bilkent University."
