We Were There...
Everyone at Bilkent has probably seen posters advertising Toontime, a social activity regularly offered on campus for years. The cartoon film series is held in room FB309 on the third floor of the B Block of the Fine Arts Faculty. On Friday, October 9, we decided to see a Toontime program, the movie Hercules. The first thing we noticed was the crowd waiting for the movie. There were people of all ages: children, students, and even instructors.

We had a great time, more fun than we expected before the movie. After the movie, we had a conversation with Toontime organizers Güral Vural and Okan Arıkan. They are senior students in the Computer Engineering Department. They told us that Toontime has been operating for five years. Toontime stopped for a semester when Baran Baran, its former organizer, graduated, but Okan and Güral decided to restart it a year ago. Bülent Özgüç, the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture Dean, supported them and gave them permission to use the Art Faculty film archive.

There are a lot of people addicted to Toontime. Güral and Okan said that every week at least 60 people come to see the movies. Sometimes it is so crowded that people sit on the floor (especially when the show is Aladdin). Güral and Okan have good news for those interested in Toontime. Newly released movies have been ordered and, hopefully, we will have the chance to see them soon. If you want to have a good time after a busy week, Toontime is a good choice. Upcoming movies are Aladdin, 101 Dalmatians, and the Lion King.

Don't forget that Toontime starts at 6 p.m. on Fridays and admission is free. Have fun!
