DOST and BILSAT Go Underground
DOST and BILSAT are two clubs that bring nature and students together in a friendly atmosphere. These clubs give the opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports, such as rock climbing, winter camping, mountain biking, rafting and scuba diving. Now DOST and BILSAT have added a new nature sport: cave exploration! The unique formations and the exciting depths of the caves gives the thrill of exploring beneath the surface of the earth.

DOST and BILSAT had their first cave exploration last weekend in İncek.

The Boztaş Cave was a fascinating preview of the underground world. It was full of crystallised stalactites hanging from the ceiling and coloured stalagmites standing up from the floor. A group of ten completed this preparatory exploration to gain experience before they take club members to other caves in Turkey.

All active sports are risky if you don't follow good practices. Cave exploration needs to be studied theoretically before going underground. During the exploration all members must follow the directions of the leader. In the next cave exploration, experienced cavers from Mağaracılık Derneği (MADER) will come and teach additional caving techniques. If you want to share this excitement, come and join the next trip. For further information, join the DOST meetings every Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at FEASS building in room T172, or contact Hande at haggi@rocketmail.com.
