A New Student Voice in Translation and Interpretation
Dil ve Kültür Topluluğu (Language and Culture Society) has taken its place among the new clubs for the 2000-2001 academic year. The club's focus will be on languages, communication and cultural issues. Founding members say, "We believe that humans have common values and different cultures. However, recognizing the values that make us human is of the utmost importance. Aiming to contribute to the quality of student life in Bilkent, we will emphasize these values and observe the importance of communication. Obviously, language plays a major role in healthy communication."

The club is planning to invite journalists, ambassadors, and figures from radio and television. Slideshows are also planned as part of the club's exploration of different aspects of Turkish and non-Turkish culture. Within the overall aims of the club, two cultures, French and English, are expected to be given greater prominence.

Dil ve Kültür Topluluğu invites everyone who is interested in language, communication and culture to join. For more information, call Esra on ext. 4729 or send an e-mail to dilveekin@hotmail.com
