Study Abroad in Fall 2001
Applications are now being accepted for participation in the Student Exchange Programs for the Fall 2001 semester. Exchange program participants enjoy an opportunity to continue their academic studies abroad while experiencing an invaluable cultural experience. Students who have a CGPA of 3.00 or above, and are presently in their second year, are eligible to apply for the program. Bilkent has student exchange agreements with the following universities: Purdue, Univ. of Texas at Austin, Maine, the Univ. of California's eight campuses (Santa Barbara, San Diego, Santa Cruz, Berkeley, Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, Riverside), Johns Hopkins, the Univ. of Alicante (Spain), Georgia Institute of Technology, Case Western Reserve University, Franklin & Marshall College, and Carthage College.

The principle of reciprocity inherent in the exchange programs makes it possible to send Bilkent University students to the above universities, providing that students from those universities can come to Bilkent. Program participants pay regular tuition fees for the semester to their home institution, and are responsible for their travel, housing, food, and incidental costs, as well as health insurance expenses and other minor fees while at the host university.

To apply, applicants must submit a CV, a statement of purpose, and a transcript along with their application forms to the Registrar's Office. The application deadline for Fall 2001 is December 15, 2000. Promising students will be selected for initial interviews which will take place during the week of January 8, 2001. The successful candidates for the Fall 2001 semester will be announced on January 12, 2001. Please note that some host institutions may require a TOEFL score.

Those who plan to apply for the Student Exchange Program should contact Zeynep Ekmekçioğlu, the Registrar, at ext. 1724 for further information.
