İstanbul Companies Host MEC Students
On Friday November 17, the Management and Economics Club organized a trip to Koç Holding and Unilever in İstanbul. This was MEC's second trip this semester. The first was to Rekabet Kurumu and Coca-Cola in Ankara on November 10.

The group, consisting of 27 Bilkent students, left Ankara Thursday night and arrived in İstanbul Friday morning. Executive officers of Koç Holding and Unilever gave presentations on their working conditions, new technologies that they are using, and the sectors they are working in. They also described the plans and strategies that help them to achieve success. Students visited the companies on-site and were able to experience the working atmosphere of the firms. They also had a chance to ask questions about business life. In the evening the group had an enjoyable time going to Ortaköy, a popular entertainment spot on the Bosphorus Strait. All in all, the trip was a great opportunity for students to see how the theories they are learning in their courses are being applied in real life, and also for them to brainstorm about possible career paths.

The traditional MEC trips to various Turkish firms will continue next semester and all Bilkent students are welcome. There are also tourist trips being organized to different places, including Safranbolu. Check the bulletin boards in the Faculty of Business Administration building for upcoming excursions and other MEC activities. Or, for more information, contact Burçak Tümer, ext. 4392.
