40 Ambar Edebiyat Kulübü was founded this year to bring together people who are interested in literature. The club founders explain: "The club's purpose is to improve the literary side of our minds and to create a friendly atmosphere in which to share and experience a variety of literary works."
To help achieve their goal, the club is planning to invite authors, poets and literary critics to make presentations at Bilkent. The first guests will be Yılmaz Karakoyunlu, the author of 'Salkım Hanımın Taneleri', and Vecdi Gönül, vice president of the Turkish Parliament, who will be on the program at C-Block Auditorium at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 5.
Story competitions, films adapted from literature classics and an Internet literary magazine are also being introduced. Everyone is invited to the take a look at the club's Internet offerings which can be found at www.40ambaredebiyat.org.
