The Introduction to Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE 101) course held two contests, one for each section of the course. The winners of the December 13 contest were Mehmet Köseoğlu and Sami Ezercan. M. Burak Güldoğan and Çağlar Elbüken took first place in the contest on December 14.
Professor Levent Onural from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering arranges the contests every year for beginning electrical engineering students to introduce them to the field of electrical engineering and motivate them in their studies. All students who take EEE 101 are required to participate in the contest.
This year’s contest consisted of designing and building a device based on two-sided communication. Students were asked to design a wired binary device which would be used to exchange a written sentence between contestants at two ends of the device. The goal was to complete the transmission as quickly as possible. The winners of this year’s competition were awarded first place for their designs of a device that used a modified Morse code. They showed much creativity in their design and invented their own code for the device.
