Alumni Discuss Advantages of Career Fair and Career Days

Excellent study skills, personal initiative and good organizational skills are keys to succeeding in school and making oneself more competitive for employment. The Career Fair and Career Days can also boost your opportunities for landing a good job. Just ask some of the Bilkent alumni who attended the Career Fair and Career Days’ meetings.

Emre, and Müge, as seniors, took an active part in last year’s Career Fair and Career Days. Emre Kamar, (CS/2000) found the Career Fair to be beneficial because it brought many companies together at once, giving students a chance to compare companies. Talking to representatives gave him ideas about the kind of employees that companies sought. Müge Kayýþ (ECON/2000) had the opportunity to ask specific questions to the representatives, and she filled out several application forms. She felt more confident about the job search after attending the fair.

Kayýþ advises that a good CV is important. Give a copy of your CV to the companies where you would like to work. Kamar adds that collecting information and making personal contacts are very important in making decisions about career opportunities.

In addition to attending the Career Fair and Career Days meetings, Emre Kamar, and Müge Kayýþ also volunteered to help at the fair and they encourage all students to do the same. Mark the date of the Career Fair on your calendar: March 16.
