Bilkent Students Awarded by Harvard
The fourth annual Internet Fiesta will be celebrated throughout the country from April 9 to 23. The aim of the Fiesta is to involve individuals with the Internet, increase awareness, introduce new projects, and enlarge the Turkish Internet by introducing new connections and adding new content. People are encouraged to think about and discuss issues about the Internet; experiment with and learn more about it; and contribute to it by making academic papers, course work, short stories, cartoons and other works available. Seminars, panels, exhibits, and conferences will be held in cities all over the country. Several projects will also be proposed, including connecting schools and community libraries to the Internet, promoting and supporting the establishment of Internet cafes in small towns and city neighborhoods, and assisting Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in connecting to the Internet.

This 15-day celebration is organized by the Internet Advisory Board of the Ministry of Transportation. The Internet Advisory Board consists of representatives from government, universities, the private sector and civic organizations. Dr. Mustafa Akgül from the Department of Industrial Engineering is an active member of the Board, and is the chairman of the Internet Fiesta organizing committee.

The motto of the Fiesta, is "İnternet Yaşamdır", literally, "Internet is Life", meaning the Internet is a vital part of life; learn to live with it, use it effectively, and do business with it.
