New Collection Adds Spark
The Audio-Visual Collection of the Main Library, just over a year old, is a welcome addition to the university. This section houses the Library’s collection of videocassettes including about 1800 films, operas, ballets, and documentaries. The audiocassette collection includes around 3000 readings for those learning English, French and Turkish, language study cassettes, and some Turkish books on tape for the visually impaired. DVDs, VCDs and CD-ROMs are also available. These items may be borrowed from the library or used in one of the viewing and listening rooms in the Audio-Visual Section. Two small rooms are available for one or two people, and one large room is available for groups or class use.

The Library’s microform collection of about 18 million items is available for viewing on microfilm or microfiche readers in the Audio-Visual Section. There is also a special room equipped with computer, scanner and braille printer for the visually impaired.

If you have not made use of this special collection of the Library yet, give it a try. New materials are added regularly and the collection is expected to grow quickly. Hours for the Audio-Video Collection are from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, 1 to 6 p.m., and 7 to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please note that circulation allowances vary depending on the items you wish to borrow. Ask the librarian for details or see the library web page:
